Horsepower at the Zoo:
Due to heavy rains and flooding of Potter Park Zoo, the 9th annual Horsepower at the Zoo had to be cancelled. All funds raised through sponsorships and pre-registrations will be donated to the zoo along with any funds raised through a passing of the hat at our October membership meeting. Sponsors and and those who pre-registered will be contacted for confirmation before checks are cashed and monies presented to the zoo.
A few higher ticket door prizes will be "auctioned off" to raise additional funds for the Zoo. Watch our late breaking news page for pictures of the items and informtion on how to bid. All other donated door prizes will be held for the 2009 show.
In the past, with the help of sponsors, participants and club members, money raised was used to help purchase an overhead retractable surgery light, a sterilization unit, a freestanding animal incubator, surgery instruments and other items for the animal hospital. Before the hospital was established, the animals were sedated, then transported to other facilities, such as the one at MSU. Funds raised have also been used to help pay for education at the zoo.
